Chris is a data scientist and developer at TPP and holds a PhD in Mathematics. He leads TPP’s work in the use of electronic health record data to support analytics, surveillance, and research. Chris is also actively involved in many national interoperability programmes and data sharing initiatives. He has previously been recognised by the Health Service Journal (HSJ) as one of the top 50 innovators in UK healthcare. He is an active researcher with recent publications in Nature, Science, and the Lancet. As part of TPP’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Chris has been a key member of the OpenSAFELY collaborative, helping to build the world’s largest platform for Covid-19 EHR research In collaboration with NHS England, the University of Oxford, and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

I am Chief Statistician at NHS Digital. I am passionate about improving the utility of our data to benefit patients and citizens and ensuring our 250 official statistics and open data releases each year best meet users’ needs.

Before this I have had a number of roles in its predecessor organisations, including covering Data Dissemination and Hospital Episode Statistics.

I live in Leeds with my partner and daughter. In my spare time, I am a very enthusiastic runner and member of my local club: Horsforth Harriers. I also enjoy playing chess.

These roles combine the development of tools to analyse cities with their application to real-world design and planning projects. The overarching objective behind these activities is to create better cities for people by understanding the interactions between urban systems.

In his time at Space Syntax he has lead international multi-disciplinary design teams to masterplan capital cities, improve health outcomes in UK cities and shape the development of digital tools that enable untrained users to make evidence-informed decisions. e.parham@spacesyntax.com

John is the Director of Strategic and Service Innovation at NHS SCW, responsible for (i) leading the development of SCW’s approach to innovation (ii) leading the development and delivery of SCW’s Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics consultancy offer (iii) Executive lead for BSW development. My key focus is a ‘customer focused’ change maker, working collaboratively with other senior leaders within the organisation and across the NHS to constructively challenge and disrupt through experimentation and practice, agree and define new methodologies to be adopted to ensure innovation is embedded as part of SCW’s and the NHS’s ways of working.

Passion areas: Innovation fuelled by creative curiosity using data, analytics and AI applied for social good, particularly in support of the sustainability goals to reduce health inequalities. Outside of work, a bit of a bibliophile who enjoys cycling and ‘trying to’ play guitar but not all at the same time.

Kate Croft is passionate about the use of data to improve lives. She is an experienced analytical leader with a proven track record in Analysis, Stakeholder Management, Multi-Disciplinary Team Management, Leadership, and Project Management. Kate has worked at NHS Digital for 15 years and has deep knowledge of managing the collection, analysis and publication of national data sets including across mental health, prescribing and secondary care.

On leaving the management consultancy Experian Marc joined UCL’s Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis as a senior research fellow. It was there that he made initial contact with Dr Foster, analysing the relationship between geodemography and health outcomes. They were looking at the use of postcode level statistics to standardise hospital mortality rates alongside variables such as age, sex and diagnosis to enable hospitals to be compared with one another.

In 2004 Marc joined Dr Foster as Director of Product Development where he oversaw the company’s development of tools across clinical benchmarking, financial management and health needs mapping. In 2007 Marc was made Honorary Professor at UCL in the field of Geomatic and Civil Engineering. In 2010 he joined East Kent University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where he is Director of Information responsible for informatics, coding and clinical systems. Marc is a graduate of the King’s Fund future leaders course and was named in the HSJ Top 50 Innovators in Health 2013.

Hi! I’m Marcus Baw. I’m a locum GP and Emergency Physician in Yorkshire, with a fairly unusual portfolio career in Health IT, health hacking, Open Source and some other stuff. I also founded and ran Leigh Hackspace for several years before we moved to Yorkshire, and I’m a self-taught polyglot developer. I’m the Chair of the RCGP (Royal College of GPs) Health Informatics Group, and have been working for the RCPCH (Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health) as lead developer and Clinical Safety Officer on their groundbreaking Digital Growth Charts project. I co-founded the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges Digital Health Group, and I’m a director of the Public Money Public Code CIC. DataCity is a Data as a Service (DaaS) company that is using Big Data and AI to understand the economy in real time.

I am an Analytical Section Head at NHS Digital, where I am responsible for leading a team of analysts developing new solutions and statistics for our open data publications. I have been part of NHS Digital’s analytical function for ten years, working across a range of different care domains including mental health, maternity services, secondary care and clinical indicators. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and art.

Tina Woods is a social entrepreneur who brings diverse stakeholders together to address the system changes needed to improve health for all. She is Founder and CEO of Collider Health and works with private sector and public sector, including the National AHSN AI Network, NHSX AI Lab and UK Research & Innovation on the Healthy Ageing Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund. Tina is also the Director of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Longevity and Co-Founder and CEO of Business for Health, a business-led coalition of socially responsible employers, purchasers, investors and innovators supporting long-term sustainable innovation and investment in preventative health and care. Tina’s book, ‘Live Longer with AI: How artificial intelligence is helping us extend our healthspans and live better too' was published in October 2020.
