The Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards splits financial interests into 9 sections: 1. Employment and earnings; 2. Donations and other support; 3. Gifts, benefits and hospitality from UK sources (if related to membership of the House or to political activities); 4. Visits outside the UK (if related to membership of the House or to political activities); 5. Gifts and benefits from sources outside the UK (if related to membership of the House or to political activities); 6. Land and property (excluding any used only for the personal residential purposes of the MP or their close family); 7. Shareholdings; 8. Miscellaneous; 9. Family members employed and remunerated through parliamentary expenses
We've automatically parsed the Register of Members' Financial Interests (published by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards but we used the version from TheyWorkForYou, see notes) and attempted to extract things like payments and company numbers so that we can better explore MPs. We've created some Top 10s and there is the full list below.
Note that the analysis and totals below rely on correctly parsing what MPs have written (see notes) so there are likely to be some mistakes/omissions - please check their actual entries to be sure. Interests stay on the Register for 12 months after the interest has ended so the time period covered for each MP may differ and that may unfairly increase some MPs' totals compared to others.
