UK Data Landscape: Visualisation

What is a 'data landscape' and what does it look like? Those are two of the questions that we hope to explore via the UK data landscape project - an Open Data Institute-led project.

Initial lists of Data Stewards, Data Enablers, and Data Users were compiled and then passed to The Data City who used their machine learning platform to find UK companies in these three categories based on analysis of their websites. Below is our first exploration of the data.

This is a summary of relevant companies, by geography, shown as a cartogram[1] or table. Companies may have multiple locations[2] so may be included in multiple areas.

Sector keyword enrichment

The sector keywords that are over-represented and under-represented among this type of company compared to the average UK company. For example, a value of "precision agriculture +46.8%" means that this type of company is +46.8% more likely to mention the phrase "precision agriculture" on their website than the average UK company.

Innovation keyword counts

The innovation keywords that are over-represented and under-represented among this type of company compared to the average UK company. For example, a value of "digitisation +5.91%" means that this type of company is 5.91% more likely to mention the phrase "digitisation" on their website than the average UK company.

SIC[3] counts
