The ODI Leeds Dashboard - tracing everything we do

The start of a new year often prompts some kind of yearly summary or review, and for a lot of people that means reading through a hefty report full of static figures and jargon. We've always advocated for doing things differently, so when it comes to tracking progress for ODI Leeds we took our own advice. Collect the data; present the data; act on the data.

If you've not seen it before, say hello to our dashboard.

Everything has been updated for 2020 (and it has already started capturing things for 2021 thanks to the clever coding behind the scenes). It shows, at a glance, the impact we deliver, and it is a real demonstration of the essence of being open. You can see everything we do.

We'd recommend looking through all of the blocks of the dashboard and experiencing for yourself but our highlights for 2020:

  • Despite the reduced physical events, we still reached a substantial number of people through ODI Leeds activity
  • Maintained our revenue levels with no central or local government funding
  • We have delivered more projects and become more nationally known and connected, you can see that by the increased number of blog posts
  • Maintained our ability to deliver open data projects with real outcomes
  • Maintained great relationships with our sponsors
  • Set ourselves up for 2021

A data-driven dashboard isn't for everybody but it is a clear way to see and communicate. The team might use it in different ways (more on that in an upcoming blog post) but the dashboard has the same function - providing a single place to gather data together and visualise it in a clear way. If we can see what we're doing well (or not so well) we can respond to it.
