Local Government is the OG "Test & Learn" Delivery Organisation

Open Innovations has always been a massive fan of fiercely independent, capable places that are connected by data. Connections allow us to get things done.

We are also big fans of doing things locally so that the people doing stuff care about the outcomes. We believe in sharing work openly and widely so that others can then learn from and improve it.

Therefore, we are very pleased to be working with the Local Government Association to explore this subject. We want to find examples of where our great Local Government institutions have delivered better outcomes than centralised approaches.

In simple terms, we believe that local knowledge allows you to create better outcomes for your area. For example, if you want to run bus services in Leeds, it helps if you regularly take a bus in Leeds.

This project is going to be a #RadicallyOpen process. We will collect stories to show why local delivery is essential if you want to get things done at pace.

So we'd like you to share your examples of where local delivery has been successful, where centralised approaches have failed, and also where centralised approaches have worked best.

We're going to collect this data, share the outputs, do some sense making and work out what to do next with this work. It will all be completed in the open and we'll keep the outputs on a dedicated project page.
