Election 2024 results hex map
Radically Open Results
The 2024 UK General Election is happening on the 4th July. We will be attempting a hex map visualisation live on the night as the results come in. You can see one we did for the 2019 election, and read about how we did it and what we learned on our blog.
We think that when it comes to showing data about constituencies - where every constituency should have an equal visual weight in a visualisation - that hex maps do a better job than geographic maps. We have made many hex maps since 2019 and developed more tools and techniques that, together with our open approach, should allow for an even better map and visualisation for 2024 e.g. look out for searchable by constituency results.

On the night, we will have a willing team of students from the Universities of Bristol & Warwick to help our team, and our hex map expert, Stuart Lowe, to input constituency results into our live election tracker. Our development team have worked hard on the technical aspects of being able to do this as effectively and efficiently as possible. There will be a technical blog to follow to show exactly what they had to do.
The live results will be published and visualised on their own microsite. If you want to join in at home, you can use our colour-your-own General Election print-out. We will also be posting highlights on social media, so please follow along and share @OpenInnovates.

We can spend time on our mission led projects like this due to the support of our sponsors who help to fund our #RadicallyOpen work - a big thanks to all of them.
If you would like to use or share our map on the night - please do - an accreditation is all we ask :)
