#PlanetData3

#PlanetData was launched in 2019 as our response to the Climate Emergency. It was an open, collaborative, and energetic event, where people could share work/data in a neutral environment and either find help or get their work amplified so that it was seen by the right people. In stark contrast to traditionally closed methods, working in this ‘Radically Open’ way speeds up innovation and gets things done. Make your work easy to find, allow people to access it with no barriers, and let people contribute in easy and meaningful ways. Participation without permission.

The coronavirus pandemic has rightly taken precedence for the majority of 2020 but the uncomfortable truth is that the Climate Emergency will still be waiting for us when this is over, and it will have a far greater impact. We hosted #PlanetData2 in April 2020, in the height of the UK lockdown and raised these exact issues, asking participants to think about what they wanted for a future where the pandemic was behind us. Would reduced car use carry on knowing that it positively impacted air quality? If the pandemic showed us a vision of a more environmentally thoughtful world, how do you get people and businesses to embrace it and make it part of their recovery?

#PlanetData3 is a day-long event that incorporates #AirHack2 in the afternoon, all as part of the Leeds Digital Festival 2020 Autumn edition. We're inviting you to join us for lightning talks in the morning and to stay for the 'virtual hackathon' in the afternoon, where people will be showcasing their visualisations, tools, products, etc, about air quality.

Join us on 1 October 2020 to find out what other people and organisations are doing, how you can help, and what happens next.

Morning - Lightning talks

Times are estimates and will depend on live question and answer sessions on the day.

Afternoon - #AirHack2
