Executive summary
ODILeeds began #OpenDataSavesLives in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of these hourly long online sessions is to use radical collaboration methods and an open approach to innovation within health and well being.
What we did for #OpenDataSavesLives
- Consultation - We outlined the aims and objectives of #OpenDataSavesLives - which was to convene people together virtually to share research, projects, data & aims in response to the pandemic.
- Branding followed - Our in house design team created our #OpenDataSavesLives logo, imagery and bespoke hub page.
- Ticketing - An event needs an audience - We specifically work to make our event as open, free & easy to access for all.
- Speaker management -we engaged with potential speakers and made sure they were fully briefed & comfortable with the format - Rehearsal & Guidance.
- Promotion - Our extensive & engaged network & community are responsive to our events. Social media promotion of your event to our network is included as standard.
- The technology - every virtual event needs a platform - in this instance we used Zoom as it was reliable, easy to use, cost effective and collaborative.
- Asset Creation - Unlike many virtual events we can record, edit and create an asset of your event. With #OpenDataSavesLives each session is recorded and uploaded to our Youtube channel and the #OpenDataSavesLives website. The virtual sessions continue to live on forever and are used as a resource open to all on the web.
The results
Now, over a year into the pandemic, popularity for #OpenDataSavesLives has skyrocketed. We have now formed a collaborative organisation with Beautiful Information and TPP.
#OpenDataSavesLives now has its own website where information, news, blogs and videos of each session are uploaded.
We have run a total no. of 30 sessions with 81 speakers and 1129 attendees to date.
